What’s in my travel backpack?

It’s 6am and I’m currently on my way to the airport to catch a flight to Warsaw, Poland. My friend Naomi and I are away for a city break, my favourite kind of holiday, and I thought I’d share what my travel essentials are when I go away for a long weekend of exploring.

Just to note – I do also have clothes with me, I’m not planning on strutting around Poland naked for the next five days.

Camera – Canon 700D & lens

One of my favourite travel essentials is my camera, it’s been all over the world with me and it’s still going strong. I’ve got a Canon 700D and I shoot most of my photos on the kit lens (the one that the camera came with). I also like to bring my tele-zoom lens with me, I’ve got a Tamron AF70-300mm and it’s great for shooting both macro and far away shots, plus it’s quite compact so doesn’t take up too much room.

Phone – Samsung S8

I tend to plan all of the things I want to do for the day on Google Maps on my phone, plot a route and then off we go. It’s a godsend for getting about in a foreign country. One of my favourite things about this phone though is the amazing picture quality of the camera, it makes everything look stunning, so if I’ve forgotten my camera I can still take great shots.

Laptop – Microsoft Surface Book

I’ve had this laptop for about a year and half now and I love it. This is the original model, which has since been updated, but it’s perfect for writing and editing things on the move. Plus it means Naomi and I can watch trashy horror films in bed without someone having to hold a phone above our heads for an hour and half.

Face care – Kiehl’s

I like to bring some face care products with me while I’m away because I’m going to be out and about a lot, so weather it’s sunny or windy I’ve got some protection.

I’m bringing Kiehl’s Age Defender Exfoliating Cleanser (I’m aware I’m only 25 but it’s a really great exfoliant) and Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Moisturiser. They’re both great products for men and reasonably priced, plus they both come in 75ml options so I can take them in my hand luggage on the plane!

Book – The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k

I never find the time to read when I’m at home, but somehow while I’m travelling I suddenly get an urge to read all of the books. I’m taking Sarah Knight’s book on The Life-Changing Magic or Not Giving a F**k. I’ve only just started it so the jury’s out at the moment on how good it is, but I’ll let you know when I finish it. Or maybe I won’t, because I’ll be giving so few fucks.

Sunglasses – River Island

Apparently it’s going to be 28C and sunny in Poland, so I’ve got my River Island half frame retro sunnies with me. I’ve had a couple of pairs of the same sunglasses now because I love them so much, they’re durable and I really like the style, plus they’re only Β£14.

Travel adaptor

I’ll be honest, 99% of the time I forget to bring a travel adaptor with me and I have to buy another one in the airport. But this time I’ve actually remembered it! Ideally I’d bring more than one but I appear to have lost all of the others.

That’s all for now, but I’ll be posting about my travels while I’m away so you can catch up here on my blog or on my Instagram and Twitter.
